Making USP Eucalyptus EO

Greetings.

Im making Eucaliptus Citriodora EO by steam distillation, i have a customer that needs it for bucal washing solution, i have no expertise doing usp Eo´s, so far im selling the Eo for fragance and Covid related products.

Remeber that i dont need to meet FDA standarts, i only dont want to kill anyone. Does i need a preservative or antioxidant, what kind?, or any vacum distillation to purify it?, i will be thankful for any recomendation and input

If you want to make a USP grade product, you have to follow USP’s guidelines.

I’ve personally never seen a USP grade EO and I suspect that it’s due to the large variation in chemical composition between batches.

Is this a singular component for you to suggest purification by vacuum distillation?

You will have to think of a drying step after steam distillation, one that does not effect the oil. Maybe you can find a book about the subject.

Thanks you for your answer, I’m using sodium sulfate after distillation.
