  • Learning about Ionic, Non-Ionic, Cat-Ionic Emulsifiers?

I am wanting to learn more about all these “onic” types and how they affect the emulsification process.
My major products are men’s styling products as well as lotions and creams.
I’m trying to learn more about which emulsifiers to pick for my formulations (outside HLB which I have been looking at).
If anyone could point me to articles or information regarding how these affect the emulsification process it would be greatly appreciated!

You need to start reading cosmetic formulation books. Harry’s Cosmetology 8th edition is a good starting point.
But in summary cationic or positively charged are used for hair conditioners. Non-ionic and anionic are used in all other products. It’s broad generalization. Start reading lists of ingredients and you will see patterns
