Lauroyl versus Cocoyl
I have to admit that I am unsure about the differences between a
surfactant that is listed as “Lauroyl” versus “Cocoyl”. As an example:
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate and Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate. Which would be higher in lather characteristics and which would be more conditioning or more gentle to the skin? I was under the assumption that since Cocoyl is based on coconut fatty acids that it would have better lather and that Lauroyl is based on Lauric acid it would be more conditioning but many data sheets rave how wonderful the lather of something like Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate describing it as having “creamy lather and long-lasting bubbles”.Thanks for your assistance!
