I am looking to buy ingredients from a supplier and I am wondering where I can test and analyse the cosmetic ingredients.

I am looking especially for a purity test and a Certificate of analysis, preferably in the Uk. Many thanks

The supplier should give you a certificate of analysis alongside purchase of a batch to confirm that it meets their own specification. The supplier themselves may be willing to carry out further testing for you if it results in a purchase and potentially a long-term customer. If not, they may outsource testing and be able to point you in the right direction to find a lab with capabilities suited to that specific material.

When you work for a bigger company, you work with the supplier to come up with an agreed upon specification sheet for each raw material. On the sheet is a list of all the tests and ranges that you and the supplier agree that each lot of material you buy will meet.  Both the supplier and you will run these tests to ensure they are within range. Otherwise the raw material gets rejected.

Ultimately, in your business this is where you want to get with your relationships with suppliers. Unfortunately, small companies don’t always have this luxury.

    Yes - I understand. But.

What I am looking for is an independent laboratory that will analyse independently and not biased.

Well, you can work your way through this list.  I haven’t worked with these companies so don’t have one to recommend. However, they do have a presence in the industry.
