    Hi everyone,

What’s the deal with botanical INCIs in the EU?

I’m getting very confused in a back and forth with EU regulation consultants. I trust them, mostly, but the lack of consistency is unsettling.

For some ingredients they’re insisting that we have to include the common name in parenthesis after the latin name, but for others we do not have to.

    For example:

Jojoba oil - Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
Peppermint Oil - Mentha Piperita Oil

Bay leaf oil - Pimenta Acris (Bay) Leaf Oil
    Cedarwood Atlas oil -
    Cedrus Deodara Wood Oil

It’s hard to believe that the same region that created REACH can allow such inconsistency!

Yes, inconsistent advice. I would raise the question/s with the EU regulation consultant. And you should get an answer. If not, find another consultant.
