  • How to make shampoo more mild?

I prefer a minimalist blend, but what other ingredients can I add to make it more mild? I already have this at <10% total ASM for
my sensitive skin and hair that tends to be dry.

    • Hydroxysultaine (50 ASM) 9%
    • SMCT 5%
    • SCI 1%
    • Coconut Butter 0.8%
    • Cationic Guar Gum 1%
    • Salt
    Thank you!

It would be hard to make it milder than what you have already. I would reduce guar.

@ngarayeva001 thanks for the input! I am wondering whether those 1% “marketing” ingredients this forum speaks of (xyz extracts, panthenol) might actually be useful beyond marketing…would they have any noticeable impact in making the shampoo more mild?

To make surfactants product mild you use more of an amphoteric surfactant (which you already did) and several mild anionic, which you also did. The only thing that I guess could be even milder is solubilisers. But they aren’t great at cleaning.
