Do any of you also conduct equipment validation when assessing your lab equipment?

My vacuum mixer seems not to be drawing a decent vacuum (enough to de-aerate a tooth gel) and just wondering if/how I can validate whether or not I am getting enough vacuum across the mixer.

To roughly test the vacuum I made a solution of Sorbitol 70% with Silicon Dioxide (Zeodent 117/168) which is a watery gel - and after 60 mins with -200 mmHg it still contains lots of bubbles, after a further 60 mins at -600 mmHg there is no improvement.

Vacuum clearly not working well - but how to validate this?

a vacuum pump can only do so much; the best way to avoid bubbles is to avoid introducing air into the product in the first place (prevention being better than cure)

So true - but it seems my vacuum mixer is whipping more air into the product than I started with.
