I am quite new here and lucky to be landed on this website. I am still confused if posting on timeline gets on forum or does it requires different way to start a question.
- Android Application would be quite good
- Interface like Quora or Reddit but this platform totally dedicated for chemist/PD/Formulation related
- Can you Add “Request a Chemist” for any requested demonstration from a user. That he can make a video about the formulation and post it. Anyone may assist the query, it can paid or free and the demonstration can be public or private.
- Networking like Podcast that you already have, but I guess its quite dedicated for administration. Like live audio/video discussion on any topic requested and people intent to attend or participate. Something Like a Clubhouse application.
What else I can say I was looking for this channel desperately and I now I am here with a lot of questions and a lot of information. Hope we can have great influence on chemical society and positive impact on each of us with responsible formulations and environmental caring developments. -
Importantly need to learn How can I create a discussion? I couldn’t find any relevant option in forum tab for this purpose

I am struggling to start a new discussion. As pointed out earlier there is a button below discussion; I am unable to find it.
Can somebody guide me pl.

To start a new discussion, go to https://chemistscorner.com/cosmeticsciencetalk/forum/general/ There will be a button on the side column (if you’re on a computer) or a button at the bottom of the discussions (if you are on a mobile device). Just click the discussion and start a new one.

I don’t know whether the screen shot is uploaded or not ? When posting a reply ketchito, it shows ” Error:- This forum is a catagory. No replies can be created in this forum. ”
What does it mean?
My earlier reply was posted but now it is repeatedly saying the same thing. Pl. help.

Currently i am not able to edit my comments from mobile phone directory.
I use chrome Android.

No.
I am not able to edit a comment in this new update for long time.
Most of the time it was not a problem but when you need it, it is a bit difficult to go to desktop mode, edit it and go back to mobile mode.
Some new users may think it is not possible.

I just added this comment and as you can see it doesn’t have edit option.
Another problem.
It is June 15 6:47 AM now that i commented the comment time shows June 14, 2023 at 9:16 pm.

In desktop mode it has this edit option. Although the time shows different.

Hi,
I am not able to post a new discussion. I see the button, but when I click it my screen gets a white “film” that stays that way unless I refresh the page. For reference, I am using an iPhone.
Also, in the notifications, it would be great if it said what thread the reply was made. Right now it just says there is a new comment on “a discussion”.

Thank you for the notification. Yes, this is a problem for everyone and I’m having my IT guys work on fixing it. Unfortunately, we don’t have a fix just yet but hopefully today!

To be honest I don’t like this layout. Too much empty space is wasted. We have to scroll down almost endlessly to read replies. Also, the password request by email is not properly set up. I had to create a new account.

You should have used xenforo, one of the best scripts for forums.

I just went with what my IT guy recommended. I liked the past forum software (Vanilla) better but I’m a chemist not a IT guy so didn’t even know about xenforo.

Back in the days (early 2000) vBulletin was the best forum script, until xenforo took the lead (mid 2010). Ask your IT guy about xenforo. I’m pretty sure the migration from vanilla was easy. I’m not so sure what script you are using now, but it should be still manageable. Have a look yourself at a demo site with xenforo (google xenforo). 🙂
Oh, also my old account em88 is still not accessible, I think you may have lost some users in the same way.

Hi Perry,
After the “Down for maintenance” yesterday, I can’t seem to be able to post “New Discussion” but I can only post reply. I’m using Chrome as well as Edge. After I clicked the New Discussion, the page turns opaque with no popup window.

Too many spam messages lately. Looks like some filtering mechanism is required, like do not let new users post the first message/topic before it is reviewed.
Or some AI that analyzes spam ????

The problem is, AI is creating the spam and able to get past captcha

You could consider making a couple of the more active, trustable users forum moderators to remove spam posts faster, at least until you are able to implement a more effective solution! I think @ketchito , @Graillotion , and @PhilGeis would all make great choices if they are interested.

My name is Bola. I use to be on the forum few years back. Changed my mobile and forgot my password.
I was forced to sign up afresh some days back.
Since then I have been trying to familiarize myself with the new outlook. I know there use to be a place for introducing oneself.
So pardon me if I am not at the right section.

It’s been restored! Sorry for that. We did an update on the course software in 2021.
