  • Best place to buy EO’s in low volume….

Posted by Graillotion on February 26, 2020 at 8:13 pm

I use about 10 different types of EO’s in my various lotions, and have still not found an ideal supplier.  There is so much talk about adulterated product, I want a supplier that wouldn’t even dream about that!  I typically buy small amounts….4 ounces per EO at a time.  I need a supplier that ships USPS….as I live in Hawaii….and that is the only viable shipper.
I had thought New Directions was going to be my ‘go to’ supplier on this as they have now removed their minimum order…..but when I tried to place an order this week…. Canada Post was higher than the cost of the EO’s.  :(

    Any thoughts?

Majestic Mountain Sage is an American company that has excellent Essential Oils in small amounts. They also have a sampler offer.

Canada Post … lol It is incredible what they charge even within the country.

    essentialwholesale.com

I have around a dozen or so different EOs from them. Excellent Lavender, never smelled a better one. Excellent peppermint, tea tree… They also have odd EOs you do not see that often. The natural Pear fragrance oil (not EO) was a huge disappointment, pretty much tossed it in the trash.

Anyway, they insisted on shipping UPS to Mexico, not sure if they will insist on the same for you. Either way, the customer service is outstanding.

UPS to Mexico is a complete and utter waste of time. Unless that is you have a freight forwarder at the border and are prepared to pay hundreds of dollars to clear it. Believe me, I have been through all this more than once. If you ship any chemical to Mexico via a courier such as UPS or DHL it WILL NOT get through the border.
If you ship it by POST it WILL almost certainly arrive without any trouble.

Hi Belassi. I believe UPS in Mexico to be one of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with. I will never use UPS again. The drivers also like to pretend like they passed for delivery and will claim nobody was home. We have 24 hour security in the building, so there is ALWAYS someone available to accept any package. This happened to us 3 different times since some Amazon sellers use UPS.

We have a family friend here who is a customs broker and involved in the freight business and she is able to get packages out of customs. I also ordered a bath bomb press from Canada, and idiotically added a few colorants in the order. That was one hell of an experience. We told customs to remove the colorants and throw them in the trash since they it were not well listed according to them. They refused. Our seller than contacted DHL Canada so that they can inform DHL Mexico not to send the package back since an agent had claimed the address was incorrect. I was then sent a form where I had to identify each colorant by 7-8 different designations like CAS # which you think would be enough but no… I had to submit a drawing of the molecular structure of every color additive. LOL It wasn’t funny at the time believe me but somehow we got our pack after 2 weeks of stress.

    …Essential wholesale…I am not a rich enough man….to afford their prices! :)
Plus I do not like to buy from places that don’t provide Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry Analysis.  I like to buy from the places that supply them.

I did get things worked out with New Directions…and have received many economical packages from them already.  Apparently there are many layers (cost structures) of Canada Post…and they were using the most premium level.  Management agreed (due to my Hawaii address) to use the lower levels…which is almost comparable to USPS.

Can’t use FedEx or UPS here….first pound is $55.00  (for real).

have you tried aroma-zone in France, they sell quite a good range of cosmetic ingredients too. if you order above a certain amount, shipping is free ( I don’t know about hawaii, it is free to Singapore by fedex), website is in French, only catch is it’s so hard to get GCMS from them..I’m still trying to get mine, been trying for a month now but some people from my FB group have successfully gotten them..

Have now seen this address being recommended in several places though I’ve never ordered there. The typical French homepage kept me from ordering… Dunno but French homepages make my eyes bleed and my brain hum. But shipment outside EU sounds nice :) .

Trying by email will get you nowhere with French people. Give them a call (only in good French, obviously). Seriously, I lived in France for 7 years and did send hundreds of mails with a success rate in to below 1% range. Not that my French wouldn’t be good, I just don’t like calling people by phone… which I usually had to do to get matters solved fairly quickly (I consider 30 min calls to 2-3 different people fast compared to weeks of waiting LoL). An even faster way is to visit them though in most cases you won’t find opening hours online (vive la France).

I did visit the site….but when my browser asked if I wanted it translated…I said ‘yes please’….and it was still in French….so I gave up.

Needs to be English, Pidgin or Korean for me! :)   FYI:  Pidgin was the hardest to learn…I still struggle at times. :)

……….And… New Directions Aromatics has the GCMS….right on the page for each EO….which was super helpful….when doing things like looking at the Nootkatone levels in three different grapefruit EO’s that they offer! :)

Citylink freight in the UK used to be exactly like this, except they’d claim they were turned away - no wonder they went bust

haha don’t I know this too well I am married to a frenchman lol. shipment outside eu is great, free shipment when you  have to order kilos of glycerine, surfactants and hydrosols is even  greater 😄
to be fair, france has progressed somewhat and nowadays emails are answered “most of the time”, except when they don’t want to address an issue. I wish aroma-zone has a number to call, would save me a lot of frustration and I would have lots of pleasure inflicting my bad French on them too 😆

I find prices on New Directions quite high.. i am a certified aromatherapist and have been toying with the idea of importing eos for a couple of years and now that I use so much more eo in my formulations, i find it a pain to find good eo at good prices with gcms provided, thus I have begun speaking to wholesalers and hopefully my pain will end soon 😄

LoL True that! But it’s even more fun when they expect bad French and get hit with ‘argot’ (you may have to ask your husband what that means). :p
Apart from emails and a ton of paperwork, I miss the time in France ;( and hence we spend most every long week-end I can take over there.
