Free Education Online
One of the greatest things about the Internet is the proliferation of educational materials. You can find great stuff on Youtube or elsewhere, but you don’t always know about the quality. That’s why I love the following sites because they give you great educational resources from respected sources (like Universities).
If you want to learn about some subject, you can probably find something about it in one of these sources.
- Udacity - Open courses in science/math-related topics. Developed by people at Stanford
- Coursera - Includes lessons from top universities like Princeton and University of Michigan
- Khan Academy - Thousands of videos on hundreds of topics
- Duolingo - Learn a new language while helping to translate the web
- Verbling - Learn a new language by video-connecting with native speakers around the world
- Open Culture - Cultural and educational media
- TED-Ed - An offshoot of the popular TED talk series. Covers a wide array of topics.
- Harvard Open Courses
- MIT Open Courseware
- Yale Open Courses
- The Saylor Foundation
- edx - A combination of MIT, Harvard and Berkeley providing free courses
- Coursera.org - Lots of different courses.
