    Hi Perry,
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Could you explain how anionic and cationic surfactant works in washing our hair.

Both surfactants work similarly. The nonpolar portion of the surfactant surrounds dirt and oil on the hair. The surfactants forms spheres called micelles which are then washed away. Cationic surfactants will actually remain on the hair because they ionically bond with damaged proteins on the hair. This is why cationic surfactants are used as conditioners while anionic are used as cleansers.

Thanks a lot Perry! Hair caire is something i still dont understand. A colleague told me i should wash my hair only one time a week, but when someone is already in the circle of washing too often, it is not easy to come out of it again, as hair needs to look good when leaving the house. Nobody wants to stay home a week to let the scalp recover. Also this period would be very hard because of itchiness i think.
With Skin care its different. Almost everybody is used to use a cream or Lotion after showering or when Skin gets dry and itchy due to the use of surfactant products.
Is there something equivalent for hair care? Some product for the scalp, that doesnt leave a fatty shine on hair?
    Sorry for this long question!

Hello Lara – There is no rule that applies to everyone when it comes to washing hair. It is really just a matter of your personal preference. I wash my hair daily and my wife washes every other day. It really depends on your own hair. Once a week may help reduce the amount of damage your hair gets but it will also not feel and look as nice. You should wash your hair as often as you feel you need to. There is no magic in washing once a week.

To help your hair use a conditioner every time you wash. This will minimize the amount of damage caused by washing.
