Is it the preservatives which cause the milky appearance? If so, upping pentanediol and/or glycerol to solve the issue would be a wiser strategy (from a theoretical point of view, not a consumer’s perception).

Yes the ethyhexylglycerin and caprylyl glycol makes it milky

I have tried without Polysorbate but serum turns out to be milky and not clear the only purpose of polysorbate is to make serum clear

There is no reason I can think of that Caprylyl glycol wouldn’t be compatible with EDTA.

I still don’t know what you mean by “mold substance”. What does it look like?

I will do some tests again tomorrow
I have Potassium sorbate will try to mix with edta
Yes perry you are right seems weird to me too
I will post a picture tomorrow
    Thankyou for your response everyone

So i played with preservatives today
Added edta to water And added blend of Phenoxyethenol+Caprylyl glycol+Sorbic acid and added Dmdm and there was the Mold type substance on top of water

Then i tried pure phenoxyethenol edta and dmdm and there was no mold solution was clear
Considering Sorbic acid is recommended to pair with edta
The culprit here seems to be Caprylyl glycol
Caprylyl glycol seems to be not compatible with edta

Do tell me what you guys think

    @Perry
    Its
    2% Alpha arbutin
    1% Hyaluronic Acid
    2% Glycerine
    0.2% Disodium Edta
    0.5% Dmdmh
0.75% phenoxyethenol Sa (By Makingcosmetics) Blend of Caprylyl gltcol phenomenal and sorbic acid
And this is happening at the start
There is only Edta and Dmdm in water and when Phenoxyethenol is added Mold appears

    Or it’s a fungus… Let me rephrase: most likely, it’s a fungus.
1% propylene glycol plus 0.5% glycerol do not suffice for preservation! You’d need at least 10 times more of these to halfway keep microbes from growing.
It is unlikely that any of your ingredients precipitate given their exceptional high solubility in water. Even if they degrade, their decomposition products remain highly water soluble. On the other hand, your serum is a great food for microbes and they will even feed on the two polyols if provided at such low concentrations.
(I like smileys/emojis to underline personal feelings otherwise hard to express in a objective text like this. I really have the urge to post one here but alas, there’s none which gets green in the face and throws up…)

Exactly thats what i was thinking
Can you please take a look at the picture attached and suggest a preservative
    Thanks
