    Hi, Perry,

As we know, cosmetic science is a branch of apply chemistry. I admit that everybody talk above is really important as basic knowledges to study cosmetic science. But I think the most crucial thing is ‘ application’ which would be more concern by the people who really want to participate in this course. Cosmetic also have close relationship with human, physical as well as mental. It has long history, sometimes it behaves a kind of culture, even a kind of art.
You said some of participants even don’t know chemistry. But I don’t think they really don’t know cosmetic because they use it everyday. Maybe it is so hard to understand the complicated relationship between cosmetic and chemistry as well as biology and math, these kind of science and engeering subjects. Why not to talk about the history of cosmetic and aesthetics first?I think that would be more acceptable.

I remember when I studied in my university, my teacher introduce cosmetic science in this way.

    Hello everyone

My name is Bob, coming from China. I’ve been working in cosmetic industry as a chemical
engineer as well as a cosmetic formulator for almost 8 years. I’m working for a
state company in Beijing which provide nutrition food, cosmetic, detergent etc.

I love my job so much because it is a wonderful career creating health and beauty
for everybody all around the world. In the past, I saw designing as more
cosmetic products as possible for my company as one of the most important goals
for me, but then I found that not what I really wanted. I wanted to do
something more innovating, so I tried to learn more about some special things like
liquid crystal, microemulsion and nanoemulsion, and fortunately I made some
samples successfully. After that, I found that these kinds of emulsions have
some specific properties like appearance, sensory, function, stability etc.
That’s so fascinating. So now, I decide to study more and go abroad for higher
education this year, doing more for this beautiful career in the future.

By the way, Perry, thank you very much for helping me created a new account. I
think it would be a nice place talking about cosmetic which I’d like to
    dedicate to.
