Updating to give further details on my formula. Not specifying the INCI to leave room so I can play around with the skin feel of the final product but the emollients will all stay in the same mPa.s range.
Loose example:
- 97.2% Silicone / Light Emollients / Low Viscosity Oils
- 1% Mica
- 0.5% Trihydroxystearin
- 1% Fragrance Oil (cool down)
- 0.3% Antioxidant (cool down)

Hi! I know this post is quite old, I’m in the US and was wondering where you found Ceteareth-30 at? TIA
-
@Pharma I understand its safer and milder which is why I am formulating with it. Question is, the pH and where it needs to be at in order for it to be ‘active’ as a PHA. As I understand the pH of glycolic or lactic needs to be at < 3.85 to be 50% active and sa needs to be at < 3.
Also, my supplier said 1-5% but all studies have it at 10% or higher in a formulation and I have seen reputable chemists use it at 30%. -
Perry, If you see this discussion I attended your webinar and asked a little bit about this and you suggested I check the CIR. Which I did but then came up with this

@Perry This is so helpful! So basically just a small water discount in the beginning and replace what is left over at the end to make 100% after adjusting pH.
Thank you much for the detailed and quick response. It is very appreciated! -
My apologies, it’s a body oil. An anhydrous product with the cool down phase still being oil based (fragrance & tocopherol)!
Thank you!
