  • Silica to suspend mica in oil?

    How much silica would I need in a formula to suspend mica in oil? I have been working with Silica Dimethyl Silylate and found that 6% is good for this with low to non-polar oils to suspend 6-7% of mica. It works great other than I sometimes experience pilling with SDS. Normally I just would experiment but if I could get a recommended ballpark to start at? Due to the price $$ of silica from my supplier, it would help me out a lot! TIA

    @siouxchem

    Somewhere in the 8% to 10% range is a good place to start
