    When you list the surfactants is that the active matter  content? Ex. when we purchase decyl glucoside it comes as a ~50% solution in water. So if I add 10% of that I’ve really only got about 5% of actual surfactant. You probably want your active surfactant  to total at least 15%.
    I’m not an expert, but I would  add the surfactants as you are now, after you’ve mixed oil and water, otherwise you will just create a bunch of foam.

    Great! Thank you soo much for your help. I will make those adjustments and let you know how it goes.

    Your stage B is missing some percents. From everything else you have here your glucosides would only be about 9% of the formula? That’s not nearly enough.
    You should also drop the shea and rosehip (leave them at 0.001% if you just want it on the label) they are interfering with the surfactants ability to actually clean.

     Sorry about that stage B

    Coco Glucoside-10
    Decyl Glucoside-5

    I can reduce all oils to .3 combined

    Any suggestions in what phase I should add surfactants?

    There’s no such INCI as ‘essential oils blend’. You even have to disclose some components of essential oils (such as limonene) separately when used at a certain %. Regarding replacement of musk, there are aroma chemicals that smell similar to musk such as ISO-E super and galaxolide. I think this question should be asked on a perfumery rather than formulation forum.

    Thank you for your advice. is ISO-E Super safe to use for leave on products?

    Let’s say that I’m using a broad spectrum preservative at 1%, I would just multiply that by 20 and use 20% in the 2,000 g batch?

    Thank you so much @Bill_Toge @MarkBroussard @Microformulation @Belassi
    @Sibech for your help. I will implement all your suggestions and let you know how it went.

    Does anyone know if it’s true that Schulke will conduct a free 28 days microbial test if you use their preservative (Euxyl PE 9010 ) in your formula?

    You just covered basic shipping and handling fees?

    are you talking about Disodium EDTA at .2 to help the preservative system?

    @Bill_Toge

    I will adjust the Euxyl PE 9010 from .5% to 1% and also reduce water phase by 1-2% and add 1-2% citric acid at cool down to see if it fixes the problem. Do you have any other recommendations to improve formula?

    @Sibech

    Sounds great. How much room would you leave for the citric acid? I am assuming 1-2% should be fine since I’m using simple ingredients. I can subtract from the water phase.

    I’m new to making cosmetics. Although I had some success, theres still a lot I need to learn. I really appreciate your time and help.

    Besides the citric acid, can you recommend anything else to make this product better?

    @Sibech

    I’m trying to stay away from using parabens in the formula. I will use citric acid to get the pH in the 4-5 range and bump up the Euxyl PE 9010 from .5% to 1.00%.

    Should the citric acid be counted as part of the 100% that make up the formula?

    @Sibech

    I don’t remember of, I can test for it later. Do you think the PH can be causing the issue?
