@belassi I just pictured a hair care line of different coffee flavorings and the slogan being “the experience of a latte on your head is pretty good” I couldn’t stop laughing.

So what exactly creates a strong scent but not overpowering, would it be just the quality of fragrance used?

MemberDecember 3, 2017 at 6:23 pm in reply to: Question about production and product completionHey jay, keyword introduce. Majority of chainstores have a vendor relations contact at the bottoms of their website. For example, a brand we’re working on is showing a lot of interest from vitam shops and the such, which is really unusual but I put 2 and 2 together.
I went to GNC’s website scrolled down and all I had to do was send a box of a few samples, a letter about my company and pricing details. Done deal. On to the next.
now I’m not saying you will get sales, but product introduction to buyers is the first step. Also utilize rangeme.com its new and will be big. Brings vendors and buyers together, online.
Also, create a business plan. From experience its best to have a guide on what’s next so you don’t waste time or get stuck.

Interesting, there’s a lot of buzz going on with Spirulina. Have you looked into Chlorophyll possibly?
From a marketing stand point, I’ve had bad experience with clearly displaying these type of ingredients. It’s a good idea to do something similar to whole blends approach “herbal blend - consists of so and so” fancy blend name is bonus points

Not much to contribute here, but please do note on your product if it contains retinol that it is for night time use.

Small chain requesting a product brief? That’s interesting..
a brief can vary but generally -
Product intro - general info about the product be simple
product objective - what is the purpose of the product?
Target Audience - IF you don’t know this, back up and find out.
USP (unique selling points) what differentiates your product from the rest? WHY ARE YOU BETTER?
Promise - Spill your heart out..well not really. (Ex. This is my passion i’ve been doing this so and so years, I have invested a lot of time into creating so and so its the best stuff mannn)
Pricing - if you Don’t know then back up, and find out. *not required*

We need a marketing rule thread here if we don’t have one

@Belassi
one of our customers actually put more fragrance in there shampoos and body wash only because it’s the one to most likely be opened and smelled. That guy is truly a genius.I see you said 1% for body wash and shampoos, but What would be the maximum amount you would recommend for fragrance in shampoos and body wash? Outside the components & label, the scent is the ultimate decision maker on instinct buys.

MemberDecember 3, 2017 at 1:56 am in reply to: Question about production and product completion@Belassi you are completely right, I’m only 23 and been in the industry 5 years. We actually scream when we here Walmart and will never work with them again. However we have gotten half decent products in big chain stores and they sell like hot cakes.
I always believe if there is effort behind something and passion while there is a market already there, you have a position in the game.
Nowadays it’s a lot easier to introduce products to chain stores if you are aiming for B2B Sales (get on ‘rangeme’ people), one day I wanted a go at sales and actually had Albertsons contact me back and request samples, yes, I know they only requested samples, yes the market is saturated, but don’t think there is no room to play. If you are in the right niche, ecommerce all the way, just know your expenses will be mainly marketing.
At the end IT IS ALL MARKETING. Automate insta posts, shopify site creation, contact influencers, sleep with a reliable content creator so she’s giving you good content and your chances of success heighten, just know, effort and time is always needed. Money too but honestly outsourcing a lot of stuff is so cheap nowadays.

@Doreen81
this is the first I have heard of la mer, I laughed at the pricing and I laughed even harder when I showed my friend and she said that both her sisters buy their products.Funny thing is I think we actually manufactured for them and if that’s the case I know for a fact what’s in those bottles is under $10. Crazy profit margins. I’ve actually been looking for a niche to enter, and this couldn’t have been brought to my attention at a better time! Thank you.

Perry that is some good insight, I was just speaking to someone today and how he mentioned tea tree oil products were released before all the hype and those lines failed until later when it got caught in consumers eyes down the line. There’s a time and place for everything.
We just made some fragrance hair mists. We couldn’t really claim anything cool until We added a drop of Argan oil into it. It’s just marketing and business.
Also I had no idea google had a trends I’ve been using anither tool for amazon to find trends but google is the master, very cool tool, thanks!

We just created a fragrance mist for hairs, the ingredients list was very minimal mainly water. What purpose would this be for?

(Never bothered) but it does allow us to list products with a CoA. Also I don’t see any mention of $3,000 fee I’ll have to wait for approval to see.

Not sure why they want to claim preservative free but hey it’s free of something so it’s a must buy!
Its all marketing.
