Standardized Botanical extracts are widely available and used frequently in Formulations. That may not be the huge task you believe. However, in my experience, one of the larger issues can be reconciling the anecdotal marketing claims the clients seek with current claims limitations. To whit, like other Cosmetics you may not make claims that they treat Medical conditions or enact a physiological effect.

At the allowable Cosmetic levels (avoiding OTC drugs) of 2%, you should have little issues solubulizing Salicylic acid.

AMT is actually pretty helpful in regards to their products from a Technical Basis. Don’t hesitate to call them for advice.That said, I agree with you regarding their products. We have had issues getting a successful PET. It does require a good Hurdle Technique and even then you can see issues in production.I am conservative in respect to Preservation and pragmatically I see most of these extracts as preservative boosters.

Years ago it was presented to me (Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract) at a Natural Products Seminar. I did give it a chance, but even with good hurdle technique it still failed. I have since seen it used in some products but in many cases “augmented” by another preservative.

Sorry, what you are asking for is a full Formulation. That isn’t really the role of this site. What have you tried?

That product can not be labeled as for Eczema or sold for use in eczema in the US. It is noncompliant with the OTC monographs.

After working in CBD several years, it is not as easy to work with as far as longterm stability goes. We are seeing that CBD is inherently unstable over time. Secondly, how are you gauging the effects of topical CBD? Anecdotal data or testimonials alone aren’t really empirical data.

Simply ask for a Compositional Breakdown from the Supplier. It will be listed if it is present. We do this with all products.

Are you using wt/wt% or volumetric measurements (cups, gallons, tbsp’s)?

I didn’t see any issue. Mark was refining fuzzy “marketing” terms into useful Formulating concepts. Science is meant to be challenging and one should always be able to defend their argument and also to cite VALID references. I would not be derogatory, but I would not also water down my Science to avoid challenging people. Mark has provided enough Guidance for the person to do their research in a credible manner.

In an OTC “Drug Facts” Label, you would reflect that you used USP grade as permissible labeling.
