This is super helpful thank you! Does anybody have experience with contract consulting and those rates? As opposed to a full time position. Thanks again!

Of course, I just mean that you said $1-$3 was typical for a 5,000 unit order, but that 100,000 was a more typical order size. Given the price that companies charge for makeup palettes etc I can’t imagine they are paying $1-$3 per shade. What’s a more typical price per unit that a brand would be paying for orders in the 50,000+ units per shade size? I’ve heard $0.04 per 1gram. What price range can I realistically expect if I’m placing big orders like that? Thanks!

Thanks Bob! That’s incredibly helpful. One more question, would you mind giving a couple approximate price ranges for different more realistic order sizes? Basically my question is, what size orders would I see a lower price and what are those order sizes and prices? Thank you so much!

It would be used to add a light layer of moisture to the skin before applying makeup, and to refresh makeup throughout the day. It would be a spray because 1. It feels refreshing and good to apply 2. It is easier to apply a fine layer all over with a spray (the point is to not have to add a lot of product to the face before putting on makeup) and 3. It is easier to apply over makeup to refresh throughout the day without messing up your makeup with spray. The antioxidants would give a boost to the formula to help with free radical damage.

I think the person was referring to when the mica is mixed with oil (grapeseed oil specifically) saying that is when the mica breaks down and becomes toxic. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me but I wanted to check with the experts before I poison myself lol.

I was told by someone that works in geology (not a geologist, just works in the field) that when you mix mica with oil it starts a chemical reaction and the mica starts to break down which is toxic and the oil gives the mica a method of being absorbed into the skin. They said that I needed to add some kind of barrier ingredient to keep the mica from being absorbed, like polybutene or something? I’m not positive polybutene was what they said that just sounds right lol. Is this all nonsense?

Hello! I’m a professional makeup artist and I love to learn about how things are made (in general not just with makeup), and I’m interested in learning how to make some of my own cosmetics just for fun and personal use :)
