before adding retinol & vitamin B3, make sure pH is >= 6 .
PH of retinol & B3 is always > 7 from manufacturers. -

MemberJuly 13, 2019 at 2:34 pm in reply to: Retinol (Vitamin A) with BHA, BHT (for stable the Vit. A).Earlier I have many problems. But now, So far I don’t have any problem for formulation , stable. For Safety I do not use any ingredients ranked > 2
all active ingredients should be added under 30C. Retinol that I used is without BHT and BHA
very effective for fading dark spots, wrinkles firm.
PH > = 6 if under 6 there is irritation due to partial of vitamin A&B becoming acidSDS and technical document from manufacturer is very important

There are facial cream products that are formulated with retinol. Is that illegal?
I plan to use retinol but no claim about stimulating cell growth, but just fading the wrinkles. That is OK?
After adding retinol into formula (arbutin + ascorbic acid), it seem to improve the performance of the cream on fading the dark spots and wrinkles. Now, just for fun, the samples were given to friends. Next I will try to adding B3.Thanks for previous and present articles that help me understanding the dark spots…
@Perry, would you like to have sample? I would like to send you one. -

@ngarayeva001, 3% is too high for concentration of 3 million IU per gram. For my calculation, try it with 0.05 to 0.08% for no or lightly notice of skin peeling, no irritation with extra moisture. I prefer using Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride + your active moisture.

Solid emulsifiers required heat-up. Liquid emulsifiers may or may not required to heat-up depending on your formula.
I am new and amateur in this field. What I learn so far that you need to experience with emulsifier, co-emulsifier and thickeners (water thickener and oil thickener). With few experiences, you will know them well.
Without experience, use the freedom emulsifier. But, just focus to find active ingredients from suppliers.
Freedom emulsifier such as sepiplus 400. It does not depend on thick or thin oil or butters, etc… It does depend on % oils and the suppliers provide the recommended % oil phase.

@ngarayeva001, @chemicalmatt
Thanks for information.
What percentage of retinol did you use in the formula ? the documentation cited that it causes skin to dry. Can we use hydrating ingredients to offset the drying side effect of retinol?
What differences of skin peel between retinol and glycolic acid?Thanks.

If you want to keep the scent staying longer, choose low tone fragrances.
I don’t think clay absorbing the scent, but it escapes to air when you open the jar -
The results;
even skin tone : nice
dark spots: 80%
overall: nice -
The results are surprised
even skin tone
dark spots reduced but not evenly
several small fading spots in dark spot have same color as normal color skinso they look not nice

@tinj Store should provide you the certificates of products and safety data sheet
if not, do not trust them. -
It combines both ethyl ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin together
