Thanks for the suggestion, appreciated

@Landmark As long as you can be in compliance (more or less) with the regs you are ok with any size. The stat nor FDA has limits on size.

Thank you all.
@chemist77 Try Aluminum Oxide. It is white and comes in different grit sizes. I have a sample from a company called Gray Star LLC. If you need their info let me know. -
That is exactly what I was thinking I will need to do. I have seen some that vendors called “white” but when I get samples they aren’t.

Proposal withinZink is asking for opinions on what may make his existing formulation more effective and you offer to sell him a formula, hmmmmm. My opinion is if someone asks for help and you don’t want to help then don’t. Zink does his own formulating from what I have read and like many of us comes here to help others and also seeking help sometimes. Amongst other things this forum is a resource for all of us who need help sometimes.

Remember to clean you sponge too. Stick it in the microwave if you want. Aside from that if you want you can use rubbing alcohol.

Not sure but I can tell you I hate the feel and consistency of PEG-150 Distearate when we use in shampoos

To combine phases I would say something like:
“Add phase A to phase B slowly while mixing at ____ rpm.But really the best thing to do regardless if you are worried is review the procedure with your manufacturer on the phone.

I believe 20% or > is supposed to be self preserving. I personally would throw a little something in to help but as a manufacturer I do it just to have no problems.
Carbopol 940 will work and I usually use Ultrez 21.
Twice a day, I would think it is fine. How many people walk around putting 62% alcohol hand gel on 3,4,5 or more times a day. I usually throw in a decent amount of propylene glycol or glycerin or both depending on the feel the customer wants.

Thank you for the information. I will contact Schulke when the time comes. Thanks for the link too.

Doesn’t 9010 take care of mold too?

IF your viscosity is 2,000cps that is not thick enough to hold a pearl in suspension. Try increasing your Betain to about 5% (no additional salt yet) and see what you get. Then increase viscosity to about 5,000 or more. You can also try working with a little carbopol to help suspend. Doesn’t take much. Which carbopol will depend on your final pH
Did you heat your whole batch to 75c when you adeed EGDS? OR did you heat a small portion and then add that heated portion to a cold batch?

Thank you both for your responses. These products are geared towards body builders so no problem with children under 3. I don’t think the customer currently has any body wash, shampoo etc… Most are self tanning lotions, mousse products which do contain 1% or so of SLS or polysorbate to activate the foaming

If you know for sure that your actives are not heat sensitive then most likely you can add to water phase while heating. Check with the supplier or manufacturer of the active to make sure there are no other reasons why you should add at the end.

I would wonder if one could get enough of this type of business at a price point that would enable someone to make a living at this or even worth while as a supplement to existing manufacturing. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

The sample I have is called Konjac Mannan Gel Powder. It is off white in color. I have not tried it yet. Comes from a supplier named Kinetik in New Jersey.
The manufacturer is GFN http://www.gfn-selco.de They are in Germany

I have a sample I got a few weeks ago but haven’t had time to have my chemist play with it yet. I think they are not all the same though. You may need to get from a specific source to get the gel your looking for but I am not certain.

Are you using liquid extracts? If so what base are they in?
