I understood that
No worries, I appreciate your input as always.

Thanks all. I know it should be a simple thing but I just don’t have a whole lot of time to devote to bubbles. As far as homemade formulas it doesn’t make sense as a manufacturer to buy shampoo and dilute it

@Perry and others. I have see different brands of salt give WAY different thickening results so either use the same each time or be careful trying to add the same amount as your previous batch when adjusting viscosity

MemberSeptember 30, 2015 at 2:24 am in reply to: Development of a cosmetic in less than six weeks? If it is for product development it is possible to do it much quicker. Depending on the product and what is in it. I’m sure most of the “old timers” on here can develop 90% of cosmetic product requests in less than a week. After so many years of doing this your know what will work and not work. Unless it is something new to you. Now, whether they would or not is another question. They may choose to develop it, send it to the customer but let the customer know that they have a sample sitting in the oven and must wait before production.
If it is from development to production, then depending on the situation, if everything goes smoothly I would say 4 weeks is reasonable lead time.

Sulfate free has always been a problem for me. Being a contract manufacturer I never wanted to buy a blend but could never make the customers happy. Recently tried a blend from Jeen and while it foamed well (I think) the customer said it left the hair feeling stripped. Still searching for the good foaming, easily thickened sulfate free shampoo

I find if you add water and then PQ10. Mix well maybe with a little heat. Mix till completely dispersed, then you can add you SLES, SLS or whatever slowly while mixing and no problem. Just remember to buy the same PQ 10 each time. Otherwise you will get varying viscosities.

Maybe I wasn’t clear. Nothing is actually dropping out. The concentration when tested of Ketoconazole drops. We put in 1% and when we send for testing we get about 0.8%, test again a few weeks later 0.7%

Belassi, I’d be interested in something like that for a customer of mine. I make a few clay masks for them. Unfortunately not moving to well yet.
@elisecortes Call Brenntag Specialties and ask for their Vulcanus Kaolin. It is already gray. I believe they come in 25K bags. I have some. Message me if you need info as I don’t get as much time on the board as I used to.

Thanks Kitty. I do purchase from them.

MemberJuly 16, 2015 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Moving manufacturers - original products are private label, possible?Kiwi, have you tried talking to your current manufacturer and specifically tell them how you are feeling lately? As a manufacturer I know sometimes a customer will leave for no apparent reason only to come back a few months later because their new manufacturer was worse than they thought they would be. Then when you have that discussion over why did you leave in the first place is the first time we find out how they really felt. This may be able to all be taken care of with a simple and open conversation.
Secondly I know you said you brand is growing but what are your current orders like? Are you ordering 200 or 500 of each peel? If so, you can’t always expect your manufacturer to give the same attention as they do to their bigger customers. There is only so much time in a day. Are you calling them too much? I know we strive to give all customers big and small great service. But when things are crazy busy and you have to get back to a million dollar customer or a $20,000 a year customer the choice is simple. HAve a duscussion with your manufacturer. May save you a lot of headaches.
