Wow, just read the list of ingredients.  Nothing at all like the masks I make (typical list below).  Nothing I see to make it a mask except tons of iron powder which I assume is enough to make it dry on the face.

Any idea where to get or what to search for when looking for this iron powder?

    My typical Ingredient List.

    Deionized
    Water, Kaolin, Propylene
    Glycol, Bentonite, Glycerin
    USP, Magnesium
    Aluminum Silicate, Sodium
    Hyaluronate, Sea
    Salt, Camelia
Sinensis Extract (Green Tea Extract), Matricaria
Recutita Flower Extract (Chamomile Extract), Symphytum
    Officinale (ComfreyExtract, Cucumis
Sativus , Extract (Cucumber Extract), Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, Phenoxyethanol
(and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Potassium Sorbate (and) Hexylene Glycol, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil

I know right.  You think they put finely shaven iron powder in there to make it work?

@ashish in our case it was not a clear product.  It is a cleanser with EGDS for pearl.

Watch it for awhile at room temp.  I have seen the Sal acid drop out weeks later.

  • @makeupcook if you need someone in Florida for something other than color cosmetics let me know.  I own a contract manufacturing company in Miami.  Send me a private message on here if needed.

A few years back a customer had me develop a formal free straighter.  Made samples and told them to test on all hair types.  They loved and and ordered some.  A month or so later they called telling me people with colored hair (or maybe it was bleached hair) were having their hair turn copper.  I said I thought you tested this.  They say we did.  The one person we tested it on it worked great.

Years ago I used Carbopol 2020 for suspension.

I had problems thickening a cleanser with low pH (salicylic acid) .  I think we ended up using Aqua SF-1.

This was a batch that was made by another manufacturer and sent to him in bulk for filling into tubes.  We would assume the original manufacturer tested the product but who knows.  I did suggest the best action is to tell the customer to dump it but he had asked if adding more preservative would do anything.  So, I asked.  It’s out of my hands.

Thank you all for weighing in on this.  Oh, and I don’t know what preservative was used or anything else in the product.

Apparently they have.  I told him to check his water supply, change hoses etc but he was wondering if there is a way to save the batch of product by adding more preservative.  I tend to think not but that is not based on anything, just my thoughts.

@David08848 I guess you couldn’t tell I was trying to be funny.  I am well aware of the purpose of the board.  If you check you’ll see I have been on here for 2 1/2 years have have tried to help more than my share of people.

By the way, I still think you should send DragoN a jar of your product.

Never bought it for production but once developed a formula for a customer with bee venom. It was $109 for a 25mg package.

  • @classicone Where are you located?

  • I actually recently purchased a tube filler. However, I wouldn’t fill a short run of tubes. Too much, way too much set up involved. Not unless someone was going to pay around $10 per tube for a 200 or 300 pcs run.

That being said, had I bought a tube sealer I would entertain doing short runs because the set up is really not to long on those.

@David08848 I think you should still send DragoN some of the product she requested. Go ahead, make her day. I dare you :)

  • We do filling of small quantities of around 200 pcs (depending on size). The thing is you are going to pay for it and you may need to plan ahead if we have all our lines tied up with long runs. I have customers I manufacturer and fill 100 to 200 pcs for. But they make it worthwhile for me. We are not a small company either.

There are companies who specialize in ethnic hair and skin products and they employ chemists or contract manufacturers who developed products for them.  It’s just that none of them are on this forum.  Many, many years ago I used to work for a contract manufacturer that made LeKair brand products such as Super Gro, Cholesterole Cream etc….  IF you find a company or chemist who knows about hair care or skin care and you educate them as to what your needs are for ethnic skin or haor particulars, then you can come up with formulations together.

@bobbydigital Once you have your formulations complete how many units of each product will you produce initially?

Thank you all for your suggestions.  We ended up using SLES, Coco betaine, a little glycerin
