Angela,
There is a section on the board here with people who can help. Formulating services or something like that. Not sure who is on there but you can get in touch with http://www.microformulation.com/ who is on this board and very good or see if BobZchemist from here is interested. I’m sure they will at least talk to you to get a better idea of what you want and let you know how much it will cost.
If you need anything else feel free to message me.

Or, you can register the product if you are the owner of the product in case in the future you switch manufacturers your product is still registered and the new one doesn’t have to do it.
If you email me at work I can send you info for someone who does it at a reasonable price. I think ti was a few hundred dollars.

One thing we did that was interesting (I knew of this but forgot). Took out cetyl alcohol totally. We had polyquat 10 in the formula, about 0.4%. After the emulsion and after cool down we added about 0.3% SLS to see if it helped the emulsion any. Upon addition it thickened the product. It is the combo of polyquat 10 and SLS

MemberSeptember 4, 2014 at 10:09 pm in reply to: Alternatives to Triclosan in antibacterial hand soaps?Wow, I’d just make the product and wait till they come knocking. Chances are if your using one of the common actives they won’t ask for this data. If you really want ti try calling the manufacturers of some of the actives used like Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Chloroxylenol, benzalkonium chloride. Or, tell them it’s antibacterial, not antiseptic.
Your 3rd choice is to do what some of the big boys do and label it as dish washing liquid, put hand wash in smaller writing underneath and sell it in the hand soap isle.

Bob is correct. What used to take 10 minutes to fill out a form and mail in just to register as a manufacturer turned into a month long process for us about 6 months ago when we needed to renew our registration.

That is correct Vitalys. You do not need their approval. But, the manufacturer of an OTC product is supposed to register with the FDA that they are manufacturing that particular OTC product.

So what do you all use in place of Cetyl or Cetearyl alcohol in order to thicken a product but not have this occur over time?
-
Wait a minute. You are having one cosmetic product developed for total of $25,000 US ????
-
If you are making an OTC product, you are supposed to register it (the fact that you are a manufacturer making that product).

We have made about 30 or so different versions and in each one after a few days we get some purplish liquid that comes out. I know in some clear serums we have made in the past using this sometimes it takes on a pinkish tint too. I would have to check my notes in my office to see if it had anything to do with pH
