I had a laugh at some of these comments.Whats in a alcoholic hand sanitiser? I dont see flammable on those labels? Do you think they just have a tiny but of alcohol in there to have the sanitising effect?
Thanks ozgirl I will try work out the flashpoint and also try to reduce the amount of ethanol in the formula.
Also thanks Gunther i agree that perfumes also have ethanol in them. Does anyone know how much %? Does their skin catch on fire and burn when they use a perfume spray? Or cologne?
Cheers

Hey
Ok thanks very much Mark Broussard. I have seen one on the market that has Sodium Bicarb. Makes sense.
Cheers -
Hi All,
Great thank very much for your advice. -
Hi DAS, Jeremien and Microformulation
Ok thanks very much for that. Phew. -
Hey ozgirl
It will be much easier for a grade with the impurity removed. Searching for it now but will try the amphoacetates.
Thanks!

Hi Bill
Ok great thanks I didnt know that they were incompatible with quats! Thanks for that. I added them thinking they were stabilising the product.
Thanks again -
hmm ok thanks bill

Hi,
Ok thanks Bill_Toge yes thats what I was taught so in general manufacturers I know dont even bother reading the pH of w/o or adjusting pH….
-
Could try Sodium Citrate to get around pH 6.2

Check out the Silsoft range by bausch and lomb they are dimethicone copolyols. Silicone plus a PEG. Work well and you dont need much in your formula for deposition onto the hair or skin

Sometimes its too hard to teach consumers that preservatives arent bad an actually can help from causing worse to happen. Shame!

Thanks for that. I am not sure why i was told not to use phenoxyethanoll then as a preservative.
cheers -
hi we are doing the same in oz. Liquid glass can be very irritating for skin but it works at a high pH between 8 and 12!
-
Hi Heather thanks i tried glycol stearate and its works a charm
-
Hi Chemist 77,
ok thanks I will try that. I had the pH much lower at 5.5 do will increase as well.
Excited!
-

Cetyl Betaine may work? That is usually in alcohol.
