I’d try to get a hold of some polysorbate-20, ethoxylated OHs, or some PEGs and play with those.

Heat the water and SLES up to 70C.  Maintain 70C and add CDEA/NaCl.  Remove from heat then add the rest when gets below 50C

    Pure HOH qs
    SLES 25-35%
    CDEA 2-4% (will add thickness)
    NaCl ~2%
use DDBSA not LABSA ~1% (not really important though id get rid of it)
DMDM, PE, paraben, grapefruitseed oil (whatever preserve you want) - 0.2%

    clear, 3000-6000cps, pH 5-6.5-ish

These cosmetics aren’t regulated by the FDA however the color additives are.  So if they are making claims on the label and turns out to be false they are welcoming a lawsuit.  However the additives might be under a safe harbor limit and don’t need to be included on a data sheet.  Just chk out the FDAs website and they have everything you need to know.  I would just worry about your own products and not witchhunt the competitors too much.

    @nabil

    yes you can use Coco-Glucoside
    its non-ionic.  i like this better…..

    pure HOH                                86.3%
    sls                                            8%
    cocamidopropyl betaine            3%
    Coco-Glucoside                        1%
    glycerin                                     1%
    EDTA                                        0.1%
    fragrance                                 0.5%.
    kathon  cg                                0.1%.
    NaCl                                           qs
    Citric Acid                                  qs

    pH ~6.5

took out the coco MEA to cut heating cost.  you can add it back in.  due to low surfactant level you might get around 2000cps tops?  but it’ll work, and this is cheap!

does it cause redness on other people as well?  lower your solvents, “fairy dust” in all the INCI claim materials, coq10/DHA/BzOH/etc etc

ul prospector has a lot of base formulas for you to play off of.  Are you a business or is this personal?  I’ll tell you your EtOH need to be in the 65-75% range so make the rest of with Pure HOH and a little bit of carbomer and a pH neutralizer.

Maybe emulsify it with something?  use cremophor (heating required) / poly 20?  I’d keep trying

So is this SLES crystals?  Just keep mixing it at a medium to high speed and recirculate (if you have that ability).  take a sample about every couple hours.  I would also get a retain if you have it, do a solids test (weigh out in small metal pan, put in 100C oven for an hour, then take it out and weigh the difference = solids) do the same with your current batch and see if it matchs.  also compare density/pH/visc…  just look at past data as well.  there are a lot of things you can do to compare.  but keep mixing, it’ll go in eventually.

PEG-400 (PEG-8) is suitable in a cream or lotion.  you can get it through acme hardesty or hallstar.  its from sugar cane or coco fatty acids.

    Mineral Oil  25-30  - oil
    Aluminum Stearate  2-3  - emulsifier
    Parafin Wax   12-15 - thickner
    Petrolatum  20-25 - thickner/oil
    Beeswax   2-3 - oil
    Eutanol G   1-2 - emollient
    Zinc Oxide   8-10 - active/whatever
    Water   15-20 - water
    PEHG   0,5-1 -  polyethlylene glycol?
    PARFUM   0,5-1 - fragrance
EXTRACT   0,5 - extract of what?

this seems more like a suspension that an emulsion.  you should try

    phase1
    Mineral Oil  25-30  - oil
    Aluminum Stearate  2-3  - emulsifier
    Parafin Wax   12-15 - thickner
    Petrolatum  20-25 - thickner/oil
    Beeswax   2-3 - oil
    Eutanol G   1-2 - emollient
    Zinc Oxide   8-10 - active/whatever

    phase 2
    Water   15-20 - water
    PEHG   0,5-1 -  polyethlylene glycol?

    phase 3
    PARFUM   0,5-1 - fragrance
EXTRACT   0,5 - extract of what?

Heat phase 1 and phase 2 to 75 C.  Once at temp With high mixing add phase 2 to 1.  mix until 45C then add phase 3.

fire in the hole! haha im not sure if this will work

why did your company start doing this before even getting the correct equipment in!  if you dont want so spend cash on an autoclave and oven and a bunch of lab supplies definitely get it contracted out.

youll need to place your samples in the oven at 45C and check them at 1/2/3/6/12/24/36 months.  pH/density/visc/color/etc….  if its OTC then test actives as well.  you’ll need both ambient and accelerated data.  keep everything in calibration per cGMP
