I can’t say, I used a different route, AKYPO RLM-45 as primary surfactant.
-
Horrible choice of surfactants.

- 5% Lactic acid
- 5% Sodium hydroxide solution
acid + base -> salt + water -
I am thinking of Using potassium Cocoate as an option in Sulfate frene Shampoo it mat solve the problem
OMG (speechless).
PLEASE have someone who knows what they are doing formulate your shampoo. -
It Is temperature dependent, mean stability will not be good.
—- Thickeners ARE temperature dependent.
Also it is time consuming in dissolving and mixing,
—- Well, you’re the one who wanted a sulphate-free shampoo! These problems come with that.
how do you think about Aerosil 200 as plus thickener?
—- No idea, sorry. -
i see there is some famous shampoo texture is plasticized and if you touch it your finger it seems like touching plastic material! Is it because of Acrylate?
Very probably.
I don’t know why you think PEG-150 distearate is difficult. Used at up to 1.5% it’s useful to build viscosity and cocamide MEA at 1.5% also helps, and boosts foam. -
Thickeners: PEG-150 distearate, CMEA, Glucamate LT or VLT
Bentonite? Not a good idea. Highly alkaline. -

MemberFebruary 29, 2020 at 10:28 pm in reply to: How can I improve stability in this formula? ThanksA moisturiser? I certainly would not want potassium sorbate in it. Flushing is a known problem, and secondly, it turns yellow-brown over typical shelf life. I don’t recommend dehydroacetic acid either, it has a smell, and it destabilised emulsions when I tested it, that were perfectly stable with other preservatives. I recommend something like KEM NAT instead. Or Spectraguard, but the MOQ on that is too high really.
The pH is too low IMO. I would aim for a pH of 5.5 - 6.5
Lecithin is bug food. Makes preserving much more difficult.
You have 29.5% of lipids to emulsify. I don’t think 4.1% of any emulsifier would deal with that. And you should use at least two complementary emulsifiers. -
The shampoo has to impart color protection
- There is no such thing as ‘color protection’, it was a marketing term someone invented. -
Hyalurosmooth — we tried this and found no discernible effect, just a waste of money.

MemberFebruary 28, 2020 at 11:38 pm in reply to: How can I improve stability in this formula? ThanksI’d dump the lecithin for starters, that’s the kind of thing you find on ETSY. I’ve no idea what the “Organic Food Chain” is, so I can’t comment further, sorry. Secondly, that preservative is all salts, which is going to cause problems for many emulsion systems and also only works at pH <5.5, I certainly don’t like a pH as low as you have there. EO of 0.5% seems high…

MemberFebruary 28, 2020 at 5:57 pm in reply to: How can I improve stability in this formula? ThanksHardly surprising. Actually what surprises me is that it formed an emulsion in the first place. Inadequate emulsifier system.

That’s the problem with that material.

Over preserved. The first combination alone should be adequate.
More importantly, I do not see any logical physical result for this formula. Usually I can look at a formula and think, ok, w/o emulsion, or whatever, but this? I’m glad I am not the one spending money on ingredients to make whatever this is. -

MemberFebruary 26, 2020 at 2:14 am in reply to: Simple green tea PHA exfoliating-hydrating gel 🙂 - questioning myself lolIn my experience, tea extract is problematic for two reasons.
1. It is an indicator. At pH >7 it is brownish-yellow. At pH <7 it turns pink. With that much it would be very coloured.
2. It is not very stable. In my opinion shelf life = or < 3 months. I couldn’t store the raw material for more than 3 months either, even at 3C.I no longer use it. Our one product that has it, I substituted pine bark extract (another indicator with similar colour response, but a lot more stable)

Kpnangan butter has a high vitamin A content. It’s yellow.
-
You’ll have to do the research, sorry.
-
Use only fatty acids whose derivatives are soluble.
-
@Ektaj, I am only going to say, your idea looks like something from the 1920s. Modern floor cleaning formulations are available that work great and use a very small % of ingredients.

Search the patents. It’s not a trivial project.
