I.did not add vivastar, i.asked as an alternative only.

Xantham gum 1%, I also have VIVASTAR® CS 142 HV (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose), not sure if it’s compatible with acids…. Google says it is “Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is generally stable and soluble in aqueous solutions across a pH range of <mark style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>3 to 11</mark>.”

Thank you very much anyone

Just asking because I had success making purple conditioner, which is acidic, but not a shampoo, it is acidic too but it does not deposit the pigment.

- There is no need to have both Aristoflex AVC and Sepimax Zen, you can have just Aristoflex (but then keep oils at 5%) or just Zen, or you can use one of many other polymeric acrylic acid derived emulsifiers that are sold on lotioncrafter or makingcosmetics (Sepinov EMT 10 is very nice, many people like Sepiplus 400 (I don’t), GelMaker EMU, GelMaker Rheo, there are many).
- The betaine is a humectant (it’s not CAPB)
- You don’t need to use Octyldodecanol or Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides specifically, just choose something light (again plenty of esters on makingcosmetics)
- Choice of preservative is due to the form of retinol. I use liposomes made of lecithin and I read that lecithin affects efficacy of paraben, so I used paraben free (but effective) preservative.
- You want to make sure you have antioxidants, because retinol oxidises.
Feel free to use this as an example. It might be off topic but I saw that you did not use NAG, I’m having trouble find it (I’m from Greece), but I can easily find niacinamide. Do you think it’s necessary to pair NAG with niacinamide to get any skin benefits?

Yes I used ceteareth-25 instead of polysorbate 20 and I got a nice thick cream without that fluffy texture.

I like the feeling on skin but it’s mostly for dry skin types. The good about lecithin is that it also acts as an emollient, I can reduce or even omit glycerin and also reduce the amount of oils in the formula.
-
I use liquid lecithin and I really like it. It’s tricky to get nice texture but it’s not impossible. I found that lecithin powder is even harder to work with. I use liquid lecithin in my oil phase. I also add cetyl alcohol to make a thicker cream and a little polysorbate 20 in the water phase to make it stable.
I’ve used Glyceryl stearate in the past and was not very happy with the results. I laso tried polawax and did not like the texture as much as lecithin’s texture. -
I left it out of the fridge and it turned transparent. It has slight yellowy-green tint but it can be seen only on white.
This is where I bought it: https://www.manischemicals.com/en/preservatives/299-phenoxetol.html
There is also a certificate at the attachments tab. -

Can you help? Is it just the nature of gums that are not compatible ?
-
Sorry you are right, Coco-Glucoside (and) Glyceryl Oleate
-
I have ordered from them few times https://www.dragonspice.de/
They do have lactic acid as far as I know.

So you think its best to add panthenol in leave in conditioners? I have plenty of panthenol right now, how can I benefit of it? A leave in conditioner with btms and panthenol will do better than a rinse off conditioner with panthenol?
-
I used this in place of PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil but since I got lamesoft now I might omit this. You think lamesoft can emulsify 2% castor oil?
-
ok thanks I will just add 1%. I guess is better to add it to the surfactant mix. On my last recipe I found that is better to blend the surfs all together first.
So we have:cocoamidopropyl betaine 10%
Lame soft 1%
polysorbate 2% mixed with 2% castor oil3% Glycerine
2% polyquart 7
2% panthenol1% phenoxyethanol
1% guar gum
waterI was thinking if I need to add a bit of citric acid. The ph of the previous shampoo without lamesoft and poly 7 was around 6, I used ph strips though.
-
Lamesoft just arrived today. The label recommends to use 2-5% but you said that you did see difference at only 1%. I also order polyquart 7

Wheat and keratin protein makes my hair hard, dry and tangly. I prefer no protein products but I found that simple egg yolk (not the white) mask every month makes my hair smooth but I always followed with deep conditioner and soften back my hair….
-
You can substitute water with flaxseed gel if its for personal use to get some hold. I’m protein sensitive but you can try them if you do not have problems.
-
I do not have lamesoft right now, have used it in the past though. What about liquid leqithin, I have plenty of it (sunflower) and found it in lots of hair products…

Well I tried this recipe yesterday. It was quite foamy, I guess the polysorbate contributed to this. It cleaned very well, I had this squeaky feeling on my hair, which is maybe too much for my dry curls. Until now I used to make a simple conditioner with BTMS and 10% betaine which was more slippery but still had good cleansing properties, at least on me.
