@Perry44 this data shows in hard water, more SLS was attached to skin compared to soft water. Does it mean even those soluble molecules from interaction of SLS and calcium can stay on skin or hair and cause problems?

Use it with phenoxyethanol.
It is very effective for acne in leave on product.

I make a 20% EDTA solution and use that.
Use the preservative at highest amount allowed

EntrepreneurMay 18, 2024 at 7:28 am in reply to: acceptable conditioning without cationic polymer and siliconLong time ago i was using it in shampoo at pH 5-7( don’t remember correctly) at 1% and it had no problem with SLES/CAPB at that ph. It was increasing the viscosity too.

EntrepreneurMay 8, 2024 at 9:18 pm in reply to: I’m from the government and am here to help you!!My pH is <5 and i use 100ppm piroctone olamine, 500ppm CHA, 2000ppm EDTA and 9400ppm phenoxyethanol. How preservative were you using?
@PhilGeis can i ask why 100ppm piroctone olamine would be a waste as preservative?

@ketchito i also add phenoxyethanol the product is a bit hot because it takes to much time to dissolve in cold water or emulsion but when you said emulsion memory, will it not go to emulsifier phase rather than water phase if we add it between 50-60°c?
If it goes to emulsifier phase the will it not make it less effective preservative than it being in water phase?

1%( 0.2% active)

EntrepreneurMay 2, 2024 at 2:38 am in reply to: Cream stability then ceteareth and steareth effect on hair waxIf your emulsifiers need heat then you should heat the oil phase too.
It is only 5%. What is the benefit of not heating it?

EntrepreneurApril 30, 2024 at 2:32 am in reply to: o/w Emulsifier for Low viscosity emulsions? It is cold and hot water soluble. Add 1% active surfactant in water phase. Some of them have high pH so adjust pH.<div>
You can add olivem in oil or water phase and see which one do you like most.

EntrepreneurApril 28, 2024 at 9:04 pm in reply to: o/w Emulsifier for Low viscosity emulsions?Ok
Reduce 1% Olivem and add 1% Caprylyl/Capryl Glucosides and see if the viscosity has dropped enough.
