No i dont wash it.
I have seen a patent by p&g that used niacinamide at pH 2.5. so i think niacinamide is stable at up to pH 2.5.

make a low pH solution without adding any other ingredients. Only water and lactic acid or citric acid or vinegar or whatever way that you can reduce the pH and use it on your face and see how much oil will your face produce.
High pH for dry skin. Just increase the pH of water with sodium hydroxide or soda or anything else and it will make your skin dry as hell.
That is why i make my products at low pH. The ingredients may or may not benefit the dry skin but it will definitely stimulate your skin to produce more oil.

Safety and preservative needvitalys said:If 10% solution is 1/2 neutralized - means that active acid is 5% which is the same with 5% LA solution of free acid. However, this weak solution won’t show the pronounced exfoliating power (if any) but efficient moisturizing effect. You need higher% to get some efficient exfoliation or effect. Otherwise you need to use 5% solution for a very long period of time. This is what other companies were using. For example The ordinary has 5% and 10% lactic acid pH at PKa so they have 2.5% and 5% in acid form. I haven’t seen any stronger acid for home use.
What percentage lactic acid in acid form do you suggest to be effective and safe for home use?

EntrepreneurDecember 22, 2021 at 4:27 am in reply to: Lactic acid solution at pH below 3. Safety and preservative need@vitalys we are discussing the active acid that is working for exfoliation.
As the salt part don’t exfoliant and only the acid part exfoliates the skin so let’s talk about it.There are a lot of 10% lactic acid at PKa pH which means 5% is in salt form so only 5% in acid form is working as exfoliant. Now if we use 5.2% lactic acid at pH 2.5, there will be 5% in acid form. So will these two products have the same exfoliating power as they both have 5% lactic acid in acid form to do exfoliation?

EntrepreneurDecember 22, 2021 at 2:40 am in reply to: Lactic acid solution at pH below 3. Safety and preservative need@vitalys 5% lactic acid at pH 2.5 has 4.8% in acid form and 10% at it’s pka as pretreatment which is common in market has 5% in acid form. aren’t they almost the same?

EntrepreneurDecember 22, 2021 at 1:44 am in reply to: Strength of HCl to order for pH adjustmentLactic acid and citric acid is in the body of every person. No one is sensitive to these. If you are concerned about exfoliation ans sun sensitivity then be sure that <1% lactic acid will not exfoliate anything.
If you want to use HCl knowing the risks use 1% solution.

Free formulas on internet doesn’t give best or competitive results. They are just to give an idea how much of an ingredient you can use.
Here are very intelligent chemists. You can talk to them here

Are you making it yourself?Thanks
Yes i make the products myself. As i am importing almost all the ingredients i use from another countries, i have to purchase in large quantities otherwise the shipping cost would be too much.
Currently i have some preservatives that i have to use, when they are finished i have plan to use DMDM hydantoin both is shampoo and lotions.

Glyceryl caprylate. Too susceptible to microbial esterases - and pseudomonads have plenty.
So don’t think either will help much for preservation.I know you asked about formnaldehyde releasers - can you use those?
Yes I can

That is very fortunate that the author(Philip A. Geis) is PhilGeis. I would have ask him directly if I knew that. The problem is i am in Afghanistan and can’t purchase online because of recent problems with banks in our country for now.
@PhilGeis any comments on hydroxyacetophenone and glyceryl Caprylate.
I like hydroxyacetophenone for for leave on Products because of the claims it has and glyceryl Caprylate in shampoo because i am using decyl Glucoside, phenoxyethanol and Amodimethicone and without glyceryl Caprylate it is very hard to get enough viscosity. But am not sure how helpful they would be for preservation

EntrepreneurDecember 20, 2021 at 3:50 pm in reply to: Safety of 0.5-1% LABSA in shampoo for pH adjustmentketchito said:Anionoc surfactants have binding sites not only for metal ions but also for hydrogen protons, so the lower the pH, the more chances the oxygens in your anionics might be interacting with hydrogen ions, modifying the surface activity of those molecules. Not that your anionics won’t work at lower pH, but they’ll have less strenght. Also, SLES hydrolyzes at low pH (at lower than 4, the process is more rapid). The system is not strongly buffered at pH 4.1. it has only 0.25% citric acid.
When applied to hair it will be diluted with more than 10 times the amount of water in hair so the pH would be above 5 when it is cleaning the hair so it will be ok.That is what i think.
