failed the elevated temp (42 C) after 3 weeks!! It turned brownish and could see mold forming with the naked eye.
I followed GMP, everything was sanitized, the raw materials were from new lots. What might have happened here?
My emulsifier is Heliosoft + Siligel as co-emulsifier/gelling. There are no WS extracts or hydrosols. Oil phase 15%. There is inulin/fructose at 1% (microbe food?). I know Heliosoft can do up to 0.5% monovalent electrolytes, so Sodium Benzoate should theoretically be fine.
I have made several iterations of this formula, always preserved with Germall and never had micro issues at 1 month elevated, or 6 mo. RT, even 14 months for a version without inulin.
I imagine the answer is some knock-out batches, but what would I even knock-out?
Any ideas?
Thank you. Were you using this batch too or it failed in a closed container without even being touched?
What about the smell of product?

EntrepreneurJuly 2, 2022 at 3:39 pm in reply to: How is this formula? It’s so soapy, and it’s PH is 8.What is the inci of Eco wax?
Use some phenoxyethanol or DMDM hydantoin too. That preservative may not be enough alone even at pH 4.8.
Which vitamin e are you using?
You dont need more than 0.1% in a formula. -
Inside this it has smaller rotor stator.
You can talk with manufacturer, and see for yourself what components it has comparatively.
Overall this one is bigger, can produce larger batches, maybe able to run for longer and is cheaper.

this shape looks to be better value

Are you purchasing from Alibaba?
-
I mean what batch sizes small and big you want to make?
There are better options in china for half the price that can make batches of up to 40kg.

EntrepreneurJune 30, 2022 at 4:20 am in reply to: Stop using natural preservatives and eco cert preservativesUse a blend of phenoxyethanol+ parabens or phenoxyethanol+ IPBC with a chelating agent.
These two blends are the mildest and strongest preservatives you can use if you don’t want to use formaldehyde releasers.

So what is the other 20% of product then?
Also you can not mix honey, bentonite & charcoal with oils. These are water soluble.

EntrepreneurJune 29, 2022 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Water-Based Lubricant - Formula ValidationIs it for personal use or for selling?
I would suggest increase Propanediol to ≥10% for water activity, pH 4 and a blend of phenoxyethanol & parabens.
I am not sure about compatibility of phenoxyethanol with 1% HEC though. @PhilGeis may have better suggestions. That is the most gentle part of body and those preservatives are not so gentle.

Interesting
Where can i find this data?
I need to show it to some people
Oils don’t mix with water. Your product will separate in one minute.
You need to learn how to make emulsion so you can mix water and oil.

Again see ph and find better action below ph7.What is the percentage?
Does it loss viscosity when you add fragrance?
“if not in particular sequence, the liquid lost its viscosity.” In what sequence it does not lose viscosity?

Tea Tree Oil is a skin sensitiser. Skin sensitisation may also be enhanced by irritancy. Neat
Tea Tree Oil and certain formulations at concentrations of 5% or more can induce skin and
eye irritation.
Based on clinical data, the current use levels of TTO are shown to induce contact allergy.I would suggest you to make the product and try it. Frankly, I would not want to have that much Tea Tree oil close to my eyes and nose.
Also, I would not want to clean the bathroom after rinsing 7% of charcoalSome of my competitors use 5% tea tree oil for acne products. Localhost said 1% TTO to i thought it maybe something i should show to those retailers who sell those 5% TTO products.
