  • why is my conditioner bar so oily?

Posted by soapworksdupe on February 29, 2024 at 10:23 pm

Im trying to recreate a conditioner bar and when i touch it I can glide my finger across it and still “not feel it” when I felt my bar, my finger was shiny and the bar was “sweating” I think it has to do with how much extra coconut oil is in it but im not sure what to modify. I also want to take out dimethicone because at 2% it seems useless.

    my recipe:

    BTMS: 46%

    Cetyl alcohol: 16%

(I dont want to change these two)

    coconut oil: 16%

    jojoba oil: 5%

    glycerin: 3%

    cocoa butter: 3%

    argan oil: 3%

    dimethicone: 2%

    hydrolyzed protein: 1%

    panthenol: 2%

    vitamin E: 1%

    optiphen plus: 1%

    My questions are:

-How can get something less oily, and more balanced?

    and

-What can I sub the dimethicone out for?

    thank you for reading

Remove glycerin and reduce both hydrolyzed protein and panthenol to 0.1-0.01%.
