  • When would you feel sensitization and irritation of CMI MI and formalin?

    I use 3ppm CMI MI+ 74ppm formaldehyde as formalin in my products. I and my 10 colleagues cant tell the difference if a product has them or not in leave on emulsion and cleaning products. <div>

    As they are the most sensitizing and irritating ingredients, when would some one feel the irritation or sensitization or any negative effect of these products?

    During use of product?

    after use( rinse off products)?

    or a specific time after use(one, two or more days after use)?

    </div>

    Not all are sensitized - esp. at 3 ppm.

      Yes but if someone is sensitive and he uses this shampoo, when would he feel the irritation or any other side effect?

      During use?

      After use?

      Next day?

        It takes at least two uses (since by definition the later use prompts a worse reaction than the former). Sensitization is the process of becoming allergic to a chemical that was previously fine. The immune system learns to recognize it and subsequently, some reaction occurs.

        If someone is not sensitive but has the potential to become sensitive, it could take years, and it may depend on the manner of use. I would expect if the product penetrates the skin (for example, using it with dry cracked skin), it would be much more likely to cause sensitization.
