    hi all i need help with my formula and have a chemist input on my conditionner, would like to have ask about the best preservative i can use since i am using flaxeed gel, and are these percentage okay to use

    water phase
    flaxeed boiled in distilled water        76.5%
    CETAC  30%                                       5%
    honeyquat. or glycerine                      3%
    guar hydroxypropyltrimonium.          0.5%

    oil phase

    coconut oil.           6%
    btms25                 4% can i use btms85???
    cetyl alcohol.         2%
     
    cool down
    panthenol.                                                     1%

    euxyl pe9010 0r liquid germal plus ?????        1%
    vitamin E                                                        0.5%
    fragrance.                                                     0.5%

    I’d opt for liquid germall for preservation, but use level might be closer to 0.5%. Which form of vitamin E are you using? If it’s tocopheryl acetate it’s pointless and you should switch to tocopherol or eliminate entirely

    Agree re Germall + and add EDTA - you could also use Kathon/Na benzoate/EDTA

    shoot for 1000  ppm as acid

    6% oils is to much for a conditioner. Replace is with max 2 or 3 % . I recommend the Pe 9010

    Isn’t 5% CETAC 30% too much ?

    1% is excessive 9010 or Germall +.  Suggest not much > 5000 ppm.   And do add a chealtor - esp. EDTA.
    Germall + is conceptually a better choice as it targets Gram +/- bacteria and fungi while 9010 targets primarily Gram neg bacteria.  However, Gram neg bacteria are the most common contaminants for conditioner products.
