  What humectants are effective in a cleanser? Sodium PCA or Lactate useless?

  I’m tweaking a cleanser formula, and remember there was some discussion whether there’s any point to adding sodium pca or sodium lactate to a cleanser as they’re washed off, in contrast to glycerin which allegedly remains on the skin to some extent.

  Thoughts?

  Hi Zink, you’ve answered your own question, if, of course, i am not wrong, both pca and lactate are for levein products, as they are washed off. glycerin and something else, sorry cannot recall exactly what?

  You can try Incromectant LAMEA ( Acetamide MEA and Lactamide MEA blend). I think it is substantive to the skin and claimed to be superior humeactant comparing to Glycerin.

  Glycerin works fine in the current formula, but not sure whether I should leave Sodium PCA in or not, I mean, it’d depend on -how long- it takes for SPCA to be effective, no?
