If you are talking about making a product for damaged hair, then you could use a cationic polymer like Polyquaternium 10 or 7 or Guarhydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride.  Or you can try a silicon like Dimethicone.

I don’t exactly know what you mean when you say “high porosity.”  How is porosity measured?  What type of device do you use and what value is measured?  How does one determine the difference between high porosity and low porosity?

It’s quite interesting actually. I often hear people saying they have high porosity hair, sensitive skin, dry skin (when it’s actually dehydrated by using aggressive products) and allergies that are self diagnosed. None can explain how they came to this conclusion.

Damaged hair love cationic ingredients and silicones, but type of cationics and silicones depends of type of hair.

thank you for  the answer  :)

high porosity- open cuticle hair, absorbes moisture fast but loses it as quickly
medium porosity- cuticle is slightly raised, easy to maintaine
low porosity hair- closed cuticle hair, does not absorb water or moisture fast, but can hold on to moisture for a while.

to measure the hairs porosity you have some different tests, the float test where you put a strand of clean hair in a glass and chack it after about 10 min if the strand is floating you have low porosity
if its in the middel medium porosity
and if its on the bottom you have high porosity.

there is a few different test and you can also look at the characteristics of the hair

this is if you dont have a microscope, if oyu do have a microscope you can easily check it threw the microscope, and see if the cuticle of your hair is laying flat against eachother, if the cuticle is a littl raised or if the cuticle is open
