Hello and Welcome to the all-new Cosmetic Science forum.  I look forward to interacting with you and discussing all things about cosmetic science, formulating, and the cosmetic industry in general.

This is where you should introduce yourself to everyone on the forum.  So, tell us about you.  For example…
    1.  What’s your background?  (you don’t necessarily have to include your name if you don’t want to)
    2.  What are you most interested in?
    3.  What are you trying to accomplish in your career and life?
    I’ll go first.
I’m Perry Romanowski and I have been a formulating cosmetic chemist for over 20 years.  I started Chemists Corner a few years ago as a resource for cosmetic formulators and scientists from around the world.  It is my goal to help anyone with an interest in creating cosmetics.

I am an ex-software engineer based in San Francisco. I’ve worked for several successful startup companies, and a few big names too along the way. Started really getting into cosmetic chemistry in December of 2009 but I am completely self-taught. I read a lot - I’m currently working my way through Perry’s book, Beginning Cosmetic Chemistry. Another fun book I really like is Scientific Soapmaking, although I lean more toward lotions than anything else. I am on a quest to formulate the perfect facial moisturizier for my very sensitive skin. Would love to some day sell products but right now I am comfortable just doing R&D wherever my interest takes me. I LOVE this forum! :)

Hello all dear colleagues! My ex username was vitedit here. I’m very happy to come back. Perry thanks a lot for the hard work in recovering the forum and the website.

My background is Dermatology. I have 15 years in formulation and 7 years running my own small company which offers formulation both for other brands and my own product line. We manufacture the products mostly for professional salon and cosmetic industry including skincare, manicure and pedicure as well as medicine grade peeling formulations. Also, we offer some formulations for men grooming. My own professional interests are focused on Keratolytics, emulsions and other disperse systems, as well as formulations against some skin disorders.

Simona here, based somewhere in Romania :)

Nice to see the forum up and running again, I was shocked to see that it was gone at some point in time - so MUCH valuable information in there I wish I had saved!

But anyway, for those of you who are reading this thread- I’m a 33 years old mother of a toddler, working in the IT industry, with a passion for handmade cosmetics since my daughter was born. I started with the simple mixture of waxes, oils and butters, soap making, and from there I went up to almost all the products I need (minus retinol treatments and sunscreens). I love learning and playing with the ingredients, I love testing new recipes and share the results with my family and friends. I may ask stupid questions quite a lot, but I am not ashamed in doing so :) Better to ask a stupid question than to falsely believe that I know better ;)

Glad to see everyone back online!

    Dear Perry,

I have been to other forums too but I feel even novices like us too can feel comfortable among the learned bunch. They talk in a language which is understood by all and sundry and the good thing is that yet the technicalities are never skipped.
    Great job, keep it up.

I’m back, and I’m trying to align my online screen names, hence the change.

I’ve been a cosmetic chemist for about 20 of my thirty years in the chemical/consumer products industry. Aside from cosmetics, I’ve also worked formulating fabric softeners, water treatment chemicals, mouthwash/toothpaste, ballpoint pen/permanent marker inks, and now soaps/floor wax/surfactant products.
I’ve worked for both large cosmetic/personal care companies and small contract manufacturers. I’m currently working for a medium-sized natural products company that makes an eclectic range of products including soaps, shampoos/conditioners, sunscreens, disinfectants and many others.
