  Water, do I need a preservative?

  Hello,

  I’m using a small amount of water to dissolve some solids and incoperate into a balm. The water makes 3.95% of the entire formula. The rest of the ingredients are oils and wax. 
  1. Do I need a preservative?
  2. Will the water turn the product rancid fast? Do I need  to add something to stall that? if yes, what?

  1. Yes, use a preservative.
  2. Without seeing the whole formula, I can’t answer.
