Hi! Recently I’ve made some test serums with vitamin C and most of them have dissolving problem. Please help me with the recipe.

    Test 1:

7% pentylene glycol + 0,5% ferulic acid - heated until ferulic acid dissolves.
After cooling down I added 5% L-ascorbic acid and the water. Then I added this to the beaker with 1% tocopherol dissolved in 10% pentylene glycol.
    This serum was clear.

    Test 2:

3% ethoxydiglycol + 7% pentylene glycol + 0,5% ferulic acid - heated until ferulic acid dissolves.
After cooling down I added 5% L-ascorbic acid and the water. While mixing it, white flakes appeared.
This happenes in different recipes with or without ethoxydiglycol, with or without sodium lactate.

Please help me understand why these white flakes appear (after adding the water).
    Thank you in advance!

Have you checked ferulic acid solubility?

Can you explain what does it mean to check? I see that the solution of ferulic acid in pentylene glycol (for example) becomes clear after heating so I decide that ferulic acid is solubilized. Or there’s another way to check it?

type “ferulic acid” in search function box, there’re many discussions about it.
