    Hi everyone,

I’m making a deep conditioner using slippery elm mucilage. I’ve been having the HARDEST time getting the consistency right. Is it OK to use the gel produced from slippery elm in place of water for the water phase? I’m using about 10% oils, 5-7%BTMS and the rest is water (only Aloe vera gel and slippery elm. Thoughts?
    Thanks!

As long as you use (and test for) adequate preservation, you should be ok. Remember to test stability, though.

Thanks. I think I just need do a better job at extracting the slippery elm root from the gel. I’m always left with particles in my gel. Maybe that is causing the problem.
