  • Units sold per month

    Hi guys,

If you were just starting out as a cosmetic company, whats a realistic figure for the number of units you’d expect to sell per month in the first year? Lets say you are selling independently through your own e-commerce page and advertising through social media. I know its sort of a question with many moving pieces but would love to know if anyone has had any experience with this.

    Thanks!

That’s a very open ended question. I’d /aim/ to break even but as I’m not Kylie Jenner, realistically I’ll be ready for a loss.

When selling on Amazon, I’ve seen the number 30 units a day to create a sustainable business.  But I’d suggest you make your first production run minimums (2500 units) and see how good you are at sales.

I would say as Perry, do a pilot study first. Depending on what you are making, sometimes you can get quite a big number of products made by paying for an upscale batch quite cheaply and doing a pilot study with even hundreds rather than thousands and make sure you can sell it!! I always say to clients that you have to be prepared to walk the streets as well or fill up the boot of the car and get out there.
