  • Suspending Mica Minerals in Body Oil

Without making a cream emulsion has anyone had luck suspending mica in oil? My formula below was working pretty well until it was exposed to a temperature fluctuation (from hot sun to a cold basement) and the cetyl alcohol crystallized.

    Oryza sativa oil 38%
    Caprylic/capric triglycerides 38%
    Olivem 300 10%
    Cetyl alcohol 8%
    Maranta arudinacea powder 3%
    Mica 2.5%
    Tocopherols 0.5%

Any ideas on how to effectively suspend mica in oil?

second Bills suggestion. You can try more viscous oils, smaller particle size (lighter) mica, there are several oil thickeners (polyamides or the Ajinomoto products)

Hectorite. It’s expensive but the skin feel is unmatchable.
