SLES and Sodium coco-sulfate in Shampoo
Hello,
I tried to mix SLES and sodium coco-sulfate in my shampoo formula (as anionic surfactants) along with other mild non-ionic surfactants to reach the foam i wanted. Do you think it may cause any problem mixing both of them in one formula? Because the shampoo was a little bit harsh on my scalp. -

@Anna_Maria Coco- sulfate and Lauryl sulfate are very close in structure and functionality. Lauryl sulfate was used in the past as main anionic, but due to its hard water sensitivity and harshness, was replaced by exthoxylated versions (like SLES). I’d stay with SLES and mix it with surfactants with different functionalities (amine oxides, betaines, sultaines, isethionates, etc).

Coco sulfate and Lauryl Sulfate are pretty much the same in practice. The difference is a slight variation in the distribution of fatty acids. Yes, you can mix SLES and SLS or Coco Sulfate
