Separation in Anhydrous Sunscreen
Hello Everyone,
I am working of formulatin of Anhydrous sunscreen. The formulation is
Silicon elastomer Blend - 61%
Octyl Methoxy Cinnamate - 10%
Octisalate - 5%
avobenzone - 5%
Benzophenon 3 - 7%
Octocrylene - 8%
Titanium Dioxide - 2%Microcrystalline Cellulose - 2%
After some time the oil( I think liquid suncreen agents) gets separated from the elastomer blend. Please help me with the best possible solution.

How do you blend all the ingredients together?

I am using saw cutter to mix all the ingredients. -
@Shubh123 I doubt of all those ingredients are compatible with the elastomer, there is a compatibility chart on Dowsil I suppose. Go through that to ascertain which one is showing incompatibility.

I check the compatibility data of elastomer, there is no compatibility issue of all the ingredients with elastomer. -
That means your emulsifier isn’t doing the job to hold them together. Have you tried changing the emulsifier and see if it can hold the formula together. Maybe an emulsifier from silicone emulsions can help you here.

Thanks. My formula is stable using blend of Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer and Silica as an emulsifier.
