  • Quats/Detangler for organic all natural hair Leave-in Conditioner for ethnic hair

    Continuation of my earlier post

My conditioner is not detangling enough for ethnic hair. How can I improve this by using natural ingredients?
I have aloe vera, castor oil, shea butter and glycerin as the main ingredients.
I am thinking of adding some hydrolysed soy proteins and some quats eg centrimonium chloride
Is there a better organic alternative?
    Thanks

Add 2% cetrimonium chloride. Gets the job done with minimum fuss.

Behentrimonium methosulfate is one of your best options if you are seeking a naturally compliant product.

Cetrimonium Chloride is limited in the level you can use for a leave in product.  I wouldn’t go higher than the CIR reviewed amount in a leave-in product.

“The CIR Expert Panel evaluated the scientific data and concluded that all three ingredients were safe for use in rinse-off products and were safe for use at concentrations of up to 0.25% in leave-on products.” - See more at: http://cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient/cetrimonium-chloride

    Belassi, Perry, Microformulation,

    Thanks for your responses.
Yes this is a leave in product.
I will advise my formulator to consider Behentrimonium methosulfate  and centrimonium chloride.

Microformulation, do you know what percentage would be best? Would this need to be combined e.g with cetearyl alcohol?
    Thanks

Many companies (Koster Keunen, Blue Sun) make similar products. I beleive the usage rate is 3-5%. I referenced the Croda material because of their outstanding Technical documents they make available.
