• Pomade

Hi. I would really appreciate your help with this. I am making a transparent water based pomade with the ingredients below.

    Glycerin - 5%
    Ceteareth-25 - 25%
    Disodium EDTA - 0.1%
    Water - QS
    D-panthenol - 0.05%
    Polyacrylate-2 Crosspolymer (fixative) - 5%
    Sodium Hydroxide 10% - 3.8%
    Peg-12 dimethicone - 7%
    Preservative - 0.5%
    Fragrance - 0.15%

Even though my Ceteareth-25 is at 25% I find that after I pout it  into jars and cooled, it doesn’t become a solid. It stays a liquid then gradually solidifies. after a few days it becomes a solid like a pomade. I am wanting to know why and if there is anyway to make it solidify faster as waiting a few days is not good when in production.

@Annyeap Using the emulsifier to make a thick product is not the optimal aproach. I’d try either adding a fatty alcohol (to build a thicker gel phase) or a gum (carrageenan comes to my mind). Nevertheless, I didn’t try to make such product before, so I’m not completely sure it’d work…but it’s always worthy to try.
