  Peg 40 hydrogenated castor oil

  Hi,
  I would like some feedback on peg 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil. I understand that it can have trace amounts of 1,4 dioxane. I understand that it has been used for years and is safe. But there is so much bad press. I use it in 3 hair product formulations and the results are great. I’ve been reading online about natural substitutes for it but they don’t seem to perform as well and they can be hard and costly to get especially if your not purchasing in large amounts. 
  I would love to hear thoughts from cosmetic chemists.
