  Overhead stirrer

  I recently received my overhead stirrer that came with this type of stirrer. It seems like this would incorporate a lot of air into emulsions when mixing. Do you guys think this is appropriate or should I get another stirrer?

  It’s all about the vortex. Minimize or eliminate it and you won’t get air.

  I usually affix a lab spatula into a 3-prong clasp mounted on my mixer stand and lower it inside the beaker as a tank baffle.  Works like a charm and is quite cheap.  Cheap is good, right?
