  • Opacifying a cleanser formula

    Hi everyone,
A strange question but i am hoping someone might help out.

I am formulating a cleanser which I want it to be opaque in color.
I have the below surfactant blend in it:
Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium cocoyl isethionate and cocoamidopropyl betaine(it is a liquid blend)
I also use Lamesoft PO65 plus other actives (aloe vera, sodium PCA) and ultrez 20

I am aware of the traditional opacifiers/pearlisers (Euperlan range, Opulyn range ….)  but I don’t have time to order any so i need to find a way to opacify it with something in my inventory

I tried oatmeal colloidal which worked great but it gave it a yellow color.
I am thinking to try Tapioca starch..Any feedback on mixing it with the above ingredients?

Would using xanthan gum as a thickener be better than ultrez 20 in this case?

Would any one suggest a reason that might render this unstable?

I will definetly do accelerated stability studies for 4 months. I just don’t want to waste time for nothing if there is a clear incompatability that i am not aware of.

    TIA

Do you have fatty alcohol in your inventory?

Thanks @Abdullah I dohave cetearyl alcohol. I tried it but not happy with the feel.
Plus I would prefer to go cold process, since it is only for opacifying and i don’t want to add any oils in this cleanser

You probably don’t have this in stock, but Sucrose Stearate would turn it opaque white and would not increase the viscosity.
