  • Noob formulation question in regards to IU

Hello I’m a noob and trying to understand formulation and IU.

For example, the part of the formulation for Neosporin states:

Active ingredients (in each gram) Purpose
Bacitracin 400 units First aid antibiotic
Neomycin 3.5 mg First aid antibiotic
Polymyxin B 5,000 units First aid antibiotic

If I wanted to recreate this using a cosmetic cream base of my own, my question is does this mean for every 1 gram of the cream base I need to add 400 IU of Bacitracin and 5000 IU of Polymyxin respectively?

Any clarification would greatly be appreciated. Thank you everyone
    Brian

More or less. Accurate enough. But this is a drug, not a cosmetic.

Noobs should not be contemplating making products of this nature.
